Do you catch yourself wishing time with your children would slow down? Or is there something about your child at this age that you want to remember forever?
If yes, there’s a way for you to slow down, enjoy the moment, and capture every single dimple, smile, and laugh with a lifestyle family session.
A lifestyle family session is a little different than the norm. This photography style focuses on documenting your family’s story. The sweet, the messy, the beauty of this moment in time.
Whether it’s been a while since your last family photo or if your last experience wasn’t what you hoped, a lifestyle family session might be just the ticket. I know it can feel nerve-wracking to wonder what to expect during a family photo session and how it all works. I offer a detailed welcome and preparation guide for my clients, but I want to share some insights here with you!
Let’s walk you through what you can expect before, during, and after your family photo session with me.
What to Expect Before, During, and After Your Family Session
I like to get to know my clients and their families long before the day of the session. I’ll ask about your partner and children to get to know their personalities.
During the planning process, we’ll discuss locations and talk about wardrobe. We’ll answer all of your questions so that you feel excited and ready for the session. I’m here to be your guide and remember-er of things so that you don’t have to worry about anything.
My approach during family photography sessions is to create a laid-back, fun space where you can have moments of real emotion and connection. The sessions are child-led–we let the kids be kids–we move, explore and play. We let go of the stiff, polished poses and fake smiles, and seek the in-betweens, the imperfect and real. So give me all the dirty hands from playing in the dirt, the babes who won’t let go of mama, the wild ones who won’t sit still, the parents who are tired yet so full of love…. We’ll document the things that are most important to you, those full of wholehearted goodness, so we can hold on to those memories.
Approximately three weeks after the session, you’ll receive a link to your gallery! You can view, share and download your photos. If you want help with ordering portrait artwork, you can do so, and I’m available to help you through the process of choosing the right pieces to display in your home or give as gifts.
Seattle Family Photography
There are a lot of things I love about the art of family photography. However, as the mother of two young boys who are growing up quicker than I can keep up with, it all comes down to this: it makes my heart sing every time I am able to see their essence captured in an image. Not just how they looked at this age, but that special kind of photo that tells all about their laughter, their joy, their hugs, their curiosity… All the things that change just a little bit with every passing season, making each captured moment a once-in-a-lifetime treasure. As a photographer, it is my absolute joy to be able to provide these treasures for other families. If you like the unconventional, intimate, nostalgic, and honest, I’m your person. Let’s go catch the sunset. Send me a message here.
